The Lilley Arms

West Street, Lilley, Luton, Hertfordshire LU2 8LN

This pub has a plethora of poltergeist-like activity, and cold spots being encountered; one notable occurrence was when the landlady knocked over a bowl of walnuts. She picked them up and replaced them in the bowl and when she turned around, she heard "clicks and taps" behind her. When she turned back, all the walnuts had been placed in a line on the floor; she only had her back turned for about five seconds. The other ghosts have been various identified as a handyman, a small deaf and dumb child, a kitchen hand, a postman, a shepherd (seen by a six year old who said that he was in the yard as he wasn't welcome in the building - the youngster also saw a transparent dog) and others, possibly including two ladies. Among this impressive congregation is an old landlord nicknamed "Old Tom" and at one time there was a chair named after him on account of his ghost being seen seated there.
