When this was The Cock Inn, the ghost here liked to switch on lights and when staff challenged the existence of phantoms, a glass of port was shoved from the bar! A guest staying here blamed the ghost on him switching beds during the night (!) and spectral disturbances also once extended to the branch of Boots next door. The Cock used to extend into that area but during demolition, the housekeeper's cat disappeared. A cat matching its description was seen in the stock room of Boots by a member of staff some time later but when she followed it, it vanished.
