In the 1850s, the landlord of the pub had a daughter who fell foul to awful tantrums at the slightest whim; her father usually locked her in a room where she would vent her anger on the pans and other items there until, after an hour or so, she was calm enough to be released. However, one day all went quiet after a few minutes and the landlord unlocked the door to find his daughter dead from a seizure. It is said that the girl's tantrums still manifest to this day (according to one version, she died in the kitchen and this is one of the epicentres of activity), with items being thrown around, unexplainable coldness in a back room, furniture moving, a door slamming (which stopped when the landlord told the ghost to behave itself!), people feeling a hand or a tap on their shoulder, unexplained footsteps upstairs, a bed's sheets pulled so tight that the occupant could not move (again, this stopped when the "ghost" was told off), glasses being slid along flat surfaces and paintings jumping from walls - but nothing is ever broken and no customer finds themself doused in beer! In addition, the ghost of a woman has been seen seated on a stool at the corner of the bar, although it is said that was only a "fleeting" glimpse.
