Houghton House

An old legend talks of a knight that gallops down the tree lined driveway. A little girl has been seen standing in the doorway of this ruined mansion, waving, and shadows of people have been seen out of the corner of the eye. In addition, the sound of a coach and horses has been heard pulling up; in 1915 a lady walking along the lane heard a coach and horses rushing up behind her. She flung herself out of the way and the sound rushed with nothing visible. In 2025, someone who lives near Houghton House in Bedfordshire told a volunteer that "she came every Friday lunchtime to look up at the same ghostly figure in a window."
