St Mary's Church

A shadowy dark figure (or figures) is to be seen in and near the tower; according to a local legend, the Devil himself took hold of the tower in revenge for the townspeople's devotion to God but the prayers of the vicar caused him to drop him it. Since then the tower has been set apart from the main church! The sound of drumming has also been heard (see the entry for the nearby rectory). In addition, the churchyard is said to be haunted by a monk, who also haunts the grounds of the nearby rectory.
