Marston Moretaine Rectory

The sound of a drummer in an alleged tunnel between the rectory and the church has been heard on windy days. One legend says that this is the last sound from Cavalier troops after they were sealed in by Parliamentarians and left to die; the cavaliers had used the tunnel as an escape route but their subterfuge was discovered. Another legend is that troops who had discovered the tunnel sent a drummer ahead so that they could follow his beat. The drummer boy was never seen again. The grounds of the rectory also has a phantom monk, also seen at the nearby church.
