Courtesy of Dr Steph Lay;
There have been a few incidents; the hand drier in the toilets went off by itself and all three cubicle doors would bang at different times even though there was no-one there. The lady who provided this anecdote worked at the pub and went to serve two people at a table ("...not far from the toilets") who were dressed in clothing that looked as if they came from the Victorian era. The lady smiled but the girl, aged about 9 or 10 looked sad. Then they were gone. On a different occasion, another witness looked in a mirror and saw a different face reflected back.
The area around the pub has had some bizarre incidents too. A witness and her two children were walking along the towpath away from the pub when they saw a man dressed in black and wearing top hat, cape and boots - fashion of the Victorian time or earlier. The family heard a splash and turned back but he was nowhere to be seen. A lady who worked at the pub for twenty years had finished a shift and as she approached her car, she saw "an elderly woman standing there. White-haired, slight, unfamiliar. The woman raised her arm and pointed back at the building." Turning her gaze to look back briefly, when she looked back at the figure, she was nowhere to be seen.
