Phantom footsteps have been heard walking along a corridor to a guest room, where the handle is tried or a knock at the door by an unseen hand is heard.

A thread on Facebook about ghosts at the inn yielded a number of responses; former worker Suzanne Northfield recalled many strange incidents, such as a guest being tapped on the shoulder, and footsteps on the landing (reported by more than five other people). Just after Heather and Rick took over, they awoke to a smoke like manure; their daughter also smelt it when she visited. A guest mentioned that he and others heard the latch on the front door one evening and they all turned to look - the door opened and closed but no-one was there...
