St Laurence's Church

In the lane leading to this church has been seen a grieving widow, and her crying has sometimes been heard; she was a newly wed and her husband ran off to join the Parliamentarian forces at Edge Hill, but he was killed in the battle. His wife was told the news as she made her way to the church and she collapsed. In despair, she would often return to the place where she was told the sad information, staring around her.
