King Billy Music Bar

Once known as the King William IV, there are said to be six resident ghosts, including a friendly, elderly ghost in an upstairs corridor. The fire alarm in the cellar (where much activity has been reported) has been known to activate for no reason at all.

Update 12/9/20: Supervisor Samantha Laker sent me a massive list of phenomena that have been reported here in the last 3-4 years. These include; a cleaner hearing a voice saying "Excuse me!" in the men's toilets when she was alone in the building; a tall man of about 6 foot 3 inches in height with a hat and dark clothing being seen in a mirror, but no one is there when staff go to serve him; gas to the pumps being turned off; glasses smashing on the shelves, sometimes sequentially and sometimes simultaneously; a man has been seen in the cellar and is believed to be William George, the first landlord in 1836 (the staff even wish him "Good morning!" and "Good night!"); the sound of voices, horse shoes and feet on cobbles in the toilets where an alleyway used to exist; the sound of a young girl walking down the upstairs hallway, talking and knocking on doors; an old lady on the top floor; shuffling footsteps and the sensation of someone seated on the edge of a bed on the top floor - all the time, a cat was "fixated" on something invisible; a staff member feeling someone breathing down her neck in the cellar; and in the same area, another girl found herself locked in the cellar - when she was let out, she had acquired a black eye!
In November 2022, Samantha, now based at another public house, gave more details of her time at the King Billy Rock Bar to a newspaper. She said, "You'd have glasses smash for no reason and the lights in the cellar would flash off and on randomly ... You'd be adamant you'd turned the light off and closed the door, but you'd open it and it would be on again." Staff would get into the habit of leaving the door to cellar open to check that the light stayed off. The ghost of George is most commonly associated with the bar and cellar area. The article claimed that at least five ghost inhabited the pub and Samantha confirmed that staff have to say "Good morning" and "Godnight Bill", to William George otherwise "bad things happen" during the shift or on the night. She also talked of the man in the mirror (who she said was wearing "a top hat of some kind"), the sound of voices and wheels on cobblestones in the toilets, and the cleaner hearing the voice. Samantha would also encounter something odd in this area; when she was cleaning the ladies toilets she temporarily left the area to get her mop and when she returned all the cubicle doors were closed. Also discussed in the article was the phantom of the little girl, said to be active on the first floor where staff sleep; a member of the bar staff kept moving rooms but regardless of where she went the girl would find her, knock on the door and then giggle. The final phantom described in the article was that of the old lady on the top floor; said to be friendly, who had been heard shuffling about and had come into people's rooms and sits on the bed, where the occupant could feel the resulting depression. The cat was said to follow the footsteps heard on this floor. In addition to these phenomena, Samantha also talked of the fire alarm going off for no reason.
