Now a Chinese takeaway (Phoenix House), the previous owners of this building, who operated it as a café noted that strange phenomena always occurred on the 25th day of the month. The co-owner was once talking to customers about the hauntings when a picture fell off the wall; on another occasion, a till operated by itself. There is also a mention of an apparition being seen; after the café had been closed for the day (indeed, a chair had been placed against the door to prevent further admissions by the public), a waitress saw a man sitting in the back room, and noted that he had long hair. When she went to alert the owner and they returned to challenge the intruder he had gone.
