St John The Baptist Church

The ghost of George Blount, on a black horse, is supposedly seen emerging from the church and charges off towards the village of Kinlet. Blount had a lot of heartache in his life; Mary, Queen of Scots thwarted his intention to marry his son, and indeed, she had already fled to France. Blount's later marriage produced a son (who died at a very young age from choking on an apple) and a daughter, who formed a relationship with a man whom Blount did not like. His dying plea to her not to marry the man was ignored.
