When this was "The Angel hotel" a lady in a long grey dress was seen in various areas. Guests who were taking up three spaces in a four seat table heard "an old fashioned whistle" issue from the vacant space, as if used to summon a waiter. However, only two people in the people heard the sound; the third enquired what was amiss.
