Bassa Villa

The ghosts of two children have been heard screaming, crying and banging on the cellar door for help (this was noted when the establishment was "The Magpie Restaurant" in the 1980s), and their mother has been seen in mourning clothes. The two children were playing in the cellar and were accidentally locked in, whereupon the River Severn burst its banks, drowning the youngsters. The mother may be the same "woman in black" seen walking down the High Street before turning into the Cartway; when policeman inquired if she was alright, she answered cordially. She has also been seen in the Villa, where she got into bed with the (then) owner, after sobbing into her handkerchief.
