The Crown

The ghost, named "Evie", is that of a servant girl some 150 years ago who caught her fiancee in a clinch with another girl. Evie stabbed them both, but the man survived. Evie was hung, but her ghost can still be seen hurrying through the bar and will sometimes call out, as if to attract attention. Her footsteps are heard frequently and she is blamed for items moving around. She may have been seen once, going behind the bar. In the past, the pub dogs would not go to the upstairs flat, the bathroom light would keep switching on, and the pumps for the barrels would turn off.

Update 30/7/20 : Andy Corfield, who has been a licensee of the Crown for three years says, "Whilst apart from strange things going on with light glowing that are switched off etc, I personally haven't seen anything however a lot of my staff have especially those that close up at night, also my other half who sometimes does the cleaning will not clean the venue unless he has music on fairly loud. The main incident being last year we had workman re plastering our gents toilet on the first floor of what was the Raven (the old pub that got combined with the Crown) In the morning they apologised to me for the noise they were making and said I should have come down instead of banging on the celing. They were spooked when I said that our flat is at the other side of the building and the only thing above them is a derelict floor that can only be accessed by a loft hatch near where they were working. Also every year the local theatre group hold what they call a ghost walk around Bridgnorth, and one of their stop offs is at The Crown where they tell a story of a female whom caught her husband having an affair and killed him, the other person and herself and still stalks the old raven part of the pub." In further emails, Andy informed me that, "As for the staff I have spoke to them and whilst nothing specific it seems to be just general banging and un explained noises from the toilet area and upstairs of what was The Raven and also lights turning back on when they have been turned off at end of night."
