According to the pub's website, Lavinia was a former barmaid who was murdered after refusing the advances of a customer. It is said that the room where the murder took place, which occurred over two hundred years ago, is still sealed although the window has been left in situ. Whether she is responsible for the strange occurrences here is not known. These include, "Staff claim of touches on their backs, clicking of fingers and pots and pans crashing. In the private quarters upstairs, foot steps along the landing is nightly and when we used to house guests there were many mentions of figures appearing and the feeling of someone sitting on the end of their bed. Most recent occurrences are reports of a ghostly cat, most say it stays to keep the pubs current cat "Shearer" company."
