Peterborough Cathedral

A phantom stonemason has been seen here; while working at night on the upper portions of the cathedral in the 12th century he fell to his death when he tried to make his way down in darkness after his candle blew out. His flickering flame, seen through the windows, and his spectral form, chipping away at the stonework, have been reported at the West Front window. Monks in black (the colour of the Benedictines) have been seen in the ancient graveyard to the North, the cloisters and adjoining corridors. A rare phantom of a monk without his face obscured has been observed running up the nave. He turns to stop at the altar and then continues up the nave, a look of terror on his face. It is said that he appears to have no feet, probably due to a change in floor level over the years. Occasionally, a phantom choir have been heard and latin chanting experienced too.
