The Swan

This pub is said to be haunted but the phenomena is very low-key, consisting of the smell of cigar smoke, the sound of footsteps upstairs when no-one is there, and the feeling of someone walking past you. As of February 2023, the current proprietors informed me, “We have heard various stories over the years about people having seen and heard ghosts ... My wife and I personally haven't experienced much apart the odd noise but staff past and present have reported feeling like someone is around at night and the smell of rose perfume in a certain part of the building. There have also been housekeeping staff that say the hoover will move on its own in a certain bedroom but this hasn't happened for quite a few years now ... I didn't know about the cigar smell but the footsteps could be what my wife and I have heard before, we live upstairs and my wife has woke up in the night with the sound of steps but we put it down to the building heating or cooling down.”
