A young girl with long curly hair has been seen running from one end of the conservatory to the other; she is also blamed for the cutlery being moved. On one occasion, chattering was heard coming from downstairs whilst the pub was closed but upon investigation there was no-one there. A cleaner who had never heard of any stories about the place being haunted had heard odd noises (the sound of a door opening, a rattling of the glasses on the bar which was described as "not normal", and a voice calling her name) and saw something in the peripheral vision walking past her. A later author says that paranormal activity began once the conservatory was added.
Update 3/8/20: covering manager Liam Robinson tells me, "Unfortunately I can’t offer much information in regards to your question. However having spoken to some of the staff that have been here for some time, they have had some unusual encounters. Due to the age of the building (1811) it comes as now [no?] shock that the building may be haunted. As for the last few [years] I am not sure of anything significant happening that would qualify as truly haunting."
