A man in a long coat has been striding out of a small room and towards the stairs before vanishing; a flickering light as if from a candle has been seen in the area (a room above the stairs). The man is supposed to a coachman, who made fun of a painting of an Old Testament prophet in the cupboard in the middle of the 19th century. He hung himself the next day. At least two other people who mocked the depiction died the next day too. The room containing the painting is now sealed (some stories say it was reopened in 1980), but there are still reports of footsteps, sobbing, heavy breathing, loud crashing and moaning. A landlord also stated that his jukebox would turn on during the night and when he yelled at it shut up, the volume would be turned up! Other phenomena include lights turning on and off by themselves.

Update 13/7/22: The pub responded to my Facebook request for any recent happenings: "None of the staff here have experienced such things and several of us have been here for well over 5 years."
