Burnham House

13 Nelson Street, King's Lynn, Norfolk PE30 5DY

Many years ago, the inhabitant was in contact with a ghost named "Elizabeth", said to be a former maid who had become ill and died in her bed, situated in the attic, which is where the owner communicated with her (and where dogs would bark at the foot of the stairs). She may be the ghostly figure who materialised in the kitchen and then disappeared when the owner spoke to her. There were incidents of slippers being moved on the stairs at night, a record player starting by itself, someone feeling a cold hand on their shoulder, furniture moving, drops in temperature and footsteps in empty rooms. The next door has also had an interesting incident, when the doorbell was rung countless times but no-one was there. A policeman stood hidden on the other side of the road to catch the miscreant and saw the bell being pressed in - and no-one was there!
