Dating back to about 1580, archaeology reports suggest that this building once stood on an island, reached by a causeway. Employees of this building (in its present and current identity) talk of the smell of smoke, creaks and footsteps on the middle floor, the sound of chatting, a female voice saying "Ha ha ha," another voice telling a worker not to come down to the cellar, and a door that stubbornly refused to open; when the employee asked if anyone was in the room, a voice answered "Yes" but when entry was achieved, there was no-one in there and no explanation as to why the door wouldn't open. A few guests who attended an engagement party encountered a mysterious mist, a feeling of dread and a sensation as if someone wanted to push them down the stairs - a few saw a figure here, swishing a cloak. He seemed to be displeased at their presence in the building and watched as they departed.
