The Queen Elizabeth Hospital

Gayton Road (A1076), King's Lynn, Norfolk PE30 4ET

Odd events happened here soon after the hospital was opened, when a ticking and chiming clock was heard in (what is now) one of the oldest buildings. Despite a search, the clock could never be located. The hospital also has incidents of the sound of an invisible trolley in a corridor, blamed an old porter; lights being turned on, cupboards being opened and items moving in a locked office; the sound of a young baby crying; a ghostly woman in a floral nightdress; and a "very unhappy female spirit" that caused such consternation (such as whispering "Don't come back!" in the ear of one witness) that the corridor was blessed by a priest to purge the ghost. Prior to this, the ghost, nicknamed "Evil Edna" would prompt such unease that Philipino staff would wear charms to ward off the ghost.
