Heron Court Hall
Heron Street, Rugeley, Staffordshire WS15 2DZ
Dating from 1851 and at one point a nunnery and convent, AbbeySound experienced some uncanny phenomena after they moved in in 1984, occupying the top floor which used to be the dormitory for novices. This area, it was pointed out, was haunted by a nun who had hanged herself. The owner of the company would experience the sensation of someone gently running their fingers through his hair, which he never thought was malevolent, just playful. A mirror was also seen to unhook itself from the wall; it lifted itself up and clear of the nail, and then fell to the floor. A set of instructions that he had left attached to a clipboard was found on one side of the room, the clipboard being found in the other. Musicians have also noted that they have seen their unattended guitars sliding along the floor without assistance. The lead singer of a rock band was sceptical of ghost stories but when he voiced his scorn, a clock was flung off the wall, hitting him. A similar show of defiance occurred in the snooker club downstairs; a man was telling the barlady that he didn't think much of the ghostly tales in the building. She agreed, saying that in her time there nothing had happened to her, but when she reached for the glass it exploded!
