Hamrow Cottage
Colkirk Road, Whissonsett, Dereham, Norfolk NR20 5SX
This cottage had incidents from about 1983 to c.2021. Soon after moving in, the young boy in the family would hear a crash from inside his bedroom during the night as though someone had tripped over a heavy bookcase full of books. This occurred about a dozen times over a few months. Then, footsteps were heard traversing the creaky floorboards in the upper storey while family members were downstairs. There were also whispering and mumbling voices in the pantry, where things used to fall off shelves and where the atmosphere was sometimes chilly before inexplicably warming up again. Items would disappear and only sometimes reappear, and things would move by themselves, such as a jug moving along a windowsill. Intriguingly, there were also tales of items appearing which did not belong to the family; a broken wedding ring, a spike and several stacks of modern coins. There were many, many other phenomena reported here, including two incidents when first the back yard, and then soon after a lane opposite the cottage "changed", so that they displayed a vista that would only have been visible many years previously. These "timeslips" only lasted a brief period.
