Hoo Mill Lock

A screaming woman, and a lady on the far side beckoning for people's attention have been experienced here. She may be Christina Collins who was travelling to London in the 19th century to meet her husband and took a cheap seat on a boat. Unfortunately she shared her journey with a crew of louts and her body was later found in the nearby canal. A number of the boatmen were charged with her rape and murder. Her husband is said to haunt the Bloody Steps in nearby Rugeley.
