The Bear Hotel

Drayton Road, Hodnet, Shropshire TF9 3NH
01630 685214

In the 17th century, a businessman named Jasper would often stop here on his way to Shrewsbury; however, one time on a freezing cold night, he meekly explained that he had lost his money in his stockmarket speculations. The innkeeper refused to give him credit despite Jasper's generosity in the past and even when the wayward businessman promised to repay any debt he would incur. That night, the innkeeper dropped dead from shock, having seen something awful in a cupboard that was invisible to the rest of his patrons. The next day, the body of Jasper was also found, frozen to death under a hedge, his face a mask of happiness. Since then, the ghost of Jasper has been seen in the corridors and in a fireside chair.
