Clifton Hall

A voice asking "Is anybody there?", knockings on the walls, screaming in the corridors and ghosts that appeared in the shapes of a former owner's children have occurred here. A previous owner, Anwar Rashid and his family had apparently experienced strange phenomena since their first night, but when spots of blood were found on his young son's clothing, they left the £3.6 million house for good. Reports of ghostly phenomena were not confined to his tenure either. When the house was the Clifton Girls' Grammar School from the late 1950s until the 1970s, "Staff and pupils would also reportedly experience many strange things, ranging from dark apparitions the height of children, unexplained banging and tapping on walls and doors, and disembodied voices as though a conversation is taking place."
