According to CAMRA, "The property was a Butchers for around 30 years before brief stints as a hairdressers and tattoo parlour. Most locals refer it as "the butchers" [and] apparently the ghost of the former butcher makes an appearance every so often."

Update 30/3/26: The owner replied to my Facebook query for any recent phenomena; "... we have had the odd incident in the past, it started with the Chippy working on the refurbished who claimed all his inferred plum lines when like something passed through them, we have also had the odd thing fall randomly. The bar was an old Butchers and the rumour was it was a former owner who was up to mischief in the pub ... [the chippy] said it through it was a spirit, used to aways knock on the door when working on his own and asked it to behave."
