Newark Castle

Objects move by themselves here (including coins being thrown), lights have been seen, and electrical equipment is interfered with - strange voices are said to have been heard on radios, and hushed voices, loud chanting and banging have been heard in the dungeon. The ghosts of soldiers from the Civil War are also reported here. Screams and shouts have been heard coming from the riverside wall.

Update: 4/6/26: A friend told me that one time he was in the oubliette with a guide/employee, when he felt 4 fingers in turn, and then a thumb grip his ankle - and then the fingers and thumb released their grip on him. My contact's companion said that this was due to Mark, a knight from the Crusades saying "Hello." The guide didn't seem surprised and even described, unprompted, what my friend had experienced.
