St Mary Church and Sutton Scarsdale Hall

A report of a ghost with no legs, and wearing a white hood with slits for eyes exists accompanied by sobbing, and spectral voices and footsteps have been heard. Additionally, one man reported his dog reacting to something invisible and a group had stones thrown at them. A grey figure has been seen walking at the back of the church and a dog reacted to something invisible on the path, and shadows and white lights have been seen through the windows of the ruin of Sutton Scarsdale Hall next door where tobacco and the sound of footsteps on now-missing floors have occurred, and a woman waving from a window has been seen. Workmen based in the cellar heard footsteps and voices on the ground floor but no-one was there upon investigation; dark shadows have also been seen. Heavy footsteps and the sound of a horse drawn carriage have been heard on the drive to the hall.
