RAF Manby

Although no longer an RAF base, the town of Manby has some instances of spectral occurrences; a spectral airman playing bagpipes has been reported, as has a World War 2 fighter pilot (sometimes wearing his flying gear, sometimes a long coat), and the sound of old aircraft heard over the airfields. Tedder Hall, the HQ of East Lindsey District Council, is the home of disembodied footsteps and the smell of cigar smoke. c. 1990, a worker in a nursing Home (a converted block on the old airbase) also heard footsteps in a corridor, and thinking it was a colleague who had come to help her with a resident, she called out but the footsteps continued at which point the employee looked out of the room and saw no-one. Then she realised that the footsteps were of boots on tiles, and not the carpeted corridor she was looking at. In the 1960s, a worker looked under an aircraft and saw someone's feet on the other side of an fuselage, but no-one was there when he went to check. The old mess hall and others have had incidents of doors opening and closing and lights turning on and off.
