Gainsthorpe Medieval Village

This long-lost village was a haven for ruffians and villains until people from nearby towns decided to tackle their outlaw neighbours. The robbers were murdered and their bodies thrown down a well, and the village was demolished. Spectral figures seemingly dating from the time of the raid (the 17th century) have been seen in the field before disappearing, possibly at the site of the old well.
