The spectre of a lady has been seen in the upper windows, and perfume has been smelt too - these are attributed to former landlady Elizabeth Smith. Many animals refuse to enter the cellar, where a phantom gentleman is said to be encountered. It is said that he is a punter who mistook the cellar door door for the exit, and in his drunken state, fell down the stairs and broke his neck.
Update: 6/3/20 Matt Smith, the General Manager informs me that, "Thank you for contacting us regarding paranormal activity at the Sovereign, but I am afraid I can be of little help. There are many old tales of the pub that include 'ghosts' or strange activities but none of any recent occurrences. I have been manager here for approximately 4 yrs and have not encountered anything unexplainable."
