A male figure in black has been seen in one of the rooms - some say he wears a top hat and black cloak. Laughter has been heard coming from the function room, cold spots felt and a woman in a long dress has been seen coming down the stairs but soon vanishes. There have also been sounds of items being moved around.

A 2024 newspaper gave a few more details, and noted that the building is called "The Watermillock House." The article says that the most frequent sighting is of a lady who walks the upper floors; she may be the lady in white who was seen by a visting American lady at the top of the staircase. The ghost said, "You can see me" - and then vanished! The paper also talked of footsteps being heard, drops in temperature and furniture being found moved. The cellar is also the source of ghostly phenomena. A worker was getting changed when he saw the outline of an old lady appearing. This same man referred to the time that the building was used a hospital for wounded soldiers in World War 1; "I also learned that there is a tunnel that goes from the restaurant, under Crompton Way, to the gatehouse. It used to be a mortuary and I saw the figure of a soldier walk through the wall."
