The Black Bull

A character with wild eyes and "dishevelled red hair" is said to be the phantom of writer and painter, Branwell Bronte, the only son of the famous family. A bell that he used to ring when he wanted service has been known to ring by itself, usually after the pub has closed. Branwell's ghost has also been seen, it is said, in a chair that once belonged to him before disappearing (some people claim that it is a replica). Meanwhile, outside in Main Street, his ghost has been seen crossing to the road to the chemist for his laudunum and opiates.
