Redworth Hall Hotel

A hazy figure of a young girl who fades away has been sighted; she is blamed for the tugging of visitor's clothing. The spirit of one of the owners of the house, Lord Surtees, is observed as have the screams of his son, who was mentally handicapped. Surtees was ashamed of him and chained him up in the hall (or to the fireplace - stories vary!). The phantom of a scullery maid is also reported too; she had an affair with Surtees and became pregnant. When his wife found out, the maid was soon found dead. It is said that she may have jumped off the tower to her death, and this may be why her phantom is to be seen on the upper storeys. Room 9 is also the haunt of a dark figure seen in the early hours of the morning, and which unnerves guests so much that some have rapidly departed. In rooms 7 and 14, electrical equipment has turned on and off by itself and people report the sensation of someone jumping on the bed.
