The ghost of Isabella Chaytor, (described as "The Grey Lady") who lived here in the early 1840s, has been seen here, usually in the Oval Room or halfway up the stairs. Sometimes only her footsteps have been heard from downstairs. Items have also been moved around in the kitchen.

Update 7/8/20: Initially Alison (a worker at the museum) directed me to a commercial ghost hunting team with whom they have an agreement for investigations, but when I asked if any staff or visitors had reported anything during their day-to-day business, I was told, "Not whilst I've been here." The Hive Coffee Company, who operate from the hall itself tells me, "As far as we are aware we haven't experienced anything out of the ordinary while we have occupied the building in afraid!" This was confirmed in a communication with Sarah, a worker at the coffee company on 18th March 2025; "I've worked here for about 8 years now and I'm sad to say I've never had any spooky experiences in the house!"
