Crathes Castle

The "Green Lady" is supposed to haunt a room that is named after her. She is seen crossing the bedroom with a baby in her arms and is supposed to have been a daughter of the laird, or a girl in his protection who became pregnant, and whose baby was murdered. A child's skeleton was found under the hearthstone in the 19th century. A visitor sceptical of ghosts felt a draught ruffle her hair in the Green Lady's room, and she felt very cold. She then noticed a swirling mist developing, which began to form into a hooded green figure. She left the room hurriedly and never booked another tour of the castle!
