The Parish Church of Poundstockaka "Saint Winwaloe Church" Vicarage Lane, Poundstock, Bude, Cornwall EX23 0AX 07904 088779 William Penfound was conducting the service celebrating the Feast of St John the Apostle in December 1357 (or 1536!) when he was murdered by miscreants who burst in and desecrated the church with his blood. No one was convicted but the ghost of William has been seen kneeling at the altar and in the area of the church as if continuing his duties. Link: Cornwall Live |
