The ghost, nicknamed "Charlie", has been blamed for poltergeist-like activity, of moving furniture and interfering with locks and the lighting.

Update 26/9/20: The pub replied to my email saying, "I am Ken and have owned the premises for around 27 years - I have lived above for around 5 years. The previous brewery tenant, now deceased, Dennis, did warn me that the premises were haunted and he thought it was linked to a murder on the premises sometime in the past where the corpse had been hidden in the cellar. My own various managers over the years have reported many sightings of strange things particularly in the cellar but also around the premises and I treated it as nonsense until I myself moved into the flat following my divorce. I was not at all a believer but I have experienced strange events most often the movement of furniture, rugs, ornaments etc, even from room to room - it has always been what I would describe as benevolent and never frightening for me. We rent out a few of the rooms above and my current lodgers and myself have experienced the noise of footsteps along the main corridor in the middle of the night which was not one of the occupiers and the premises were securely locked up. However, I employed a new lady manager 12 weeks or so ago and she experienced a frightening event in the cellar where she claims a female put her hands around her neck as if to strangle her - against my wishes she then involved a lady who was some sort of clairvoyant or similar who spent some time here and left a crystal which was not to be moved - but has moved apparently itself, several times in the last few weeks. Since this alleged clairvoyant visited the frequency of events has increased significantly."
