The Swan Inn

Market Place, Sturminster Newton, Dorset DT10 1AR
01258 268150

The ghost in this inn is that of a landlord who ran the establishment in the 1990s. Reportedly a jovial character, he has been seen in the area of the stairs that lead up to the private areas of the public house.

Update 22/3/22: The pub responded to my Facebook query about any recent phenomena: "my wife has seen a ghost here in 2020. Others have stories of ghostly apparitions or happening but I’ve no experience personally."

Update 11/10/22: Emma Dunne, who runs the inn, informed my UK Haunted Hotels Facebook Page that, "not sure about the jovial landlord from the 90's, but according to records the only landlord that isn't listed is a landlord from the 18 century who hanged himself in the cellar. a figure dressed in a dark coaching cape has been seen by the most recent landlady but not on the stairs. there is plenty of poltergeist activity in the Swan Inn and we at the Swan Inn refer to the ghostly goings on as 'oh there's George again'." Shortly afterwards, Holly Auger also added to the conversation about the ghost: "It's george! He used to throw the glasses out and move things around and then he calmed down for a while when I worked there, the cellar where he died doesn't really have any feeling to it though."
