Lamb HouseWest Street, Rye, East Sussex TN31 7ES 01797222909 This is the previous home of authors E.E.Benson and Henry James; the former actually saw a spectre in the garden whilst with a member of the clergy while the latter reported seeing an old lady in mantilla who assisted him in his writing. There are also stories of a spectral lady in a Victorian dress in the front hall, sitting in a chair, as well as poltergeist-like activity. It is not clear if the ghosts still manifest as it is said that author Rumer Godden, who lived her for a time, asked for the property to be blessed - including the fridge apparently!
