The Graves

The residents of the now lost village of Braddon (which is where the Western Heights is now located) were amongst the first to contract the Black Death and their bodies were dumped into a communal plague pit called The Graves, situated close to the Chapel of Our Lady of Pity which stood at Archcliffe Point. The long dead villagers are supposed to have been seen in the area. During Roman times, criminals were thrown from the cliff, and some say that their screams can still be heard.
