Shepton Mallet PrisonFrithfield Lane, Shepton Mallet, Somerset BA4 5FQ 01749 681862 Now no longer a functioning prison, the ghosts seen here include an American solider (the building was a military prison) in the halls and kitchen area, and a "White Lady" on the stairwell. Another phantom is that on an old lady, dressed in grey, sitting crying by a flower bed. In addition, a member of staff was burnt on the hand by an invisible cigarette during a guided tour. Update: 23/2/20: Felicity, the customer sales advisor replied to my email saying, "There are well-known ghost stories which have been passed down over time, such as of the White Lady who has been seen in A & C Wings, the American Soldier witnessed in the kitchens, and the voice of Captain Ryall still being heard by prisoners near to where he jumped to his death from the roof." Extra figures and shadows - and even a hand - have appeared in photographs. The prison also runs Ghost Tours, so it is safe to assume that the building is still supernaturally active!
