Wookey Hole Caves

Tapping noises, the sound of someone dragging themselves along and the ghost of Irish potholer have been reported; this latter spectre was met by a TV director who, along with his wife, arranged to be locked in the caves alone so that he could scout for locations for a 1974 Doctor Who story. Other phantoms include former workers at the mill, a young girl in the basement and lower floors, and a mentally ill man in the Magical Mirror Maze.

The BBC unveiled an interview with two members of staff on 28/11/2025 where two recent incidents were related: the first occurred in the "Goat Herder," close to entrance on 6/3/24. They were about to undertake some filming (after an initial attempt inexplicably failed) when a black figure, described as being like a mist (but with a delayed aspect, "like a drag," to the motion) walked past one of the staff. Her companion saw the same thing. After that the feeling in the caves was described as unwelcoming. The next incident was about 6 months later when a massive boom or crash was heard a few metres away from the witnesses in chamber 3, but there was nothing to account for this sound.
