The Kings Arms29 High Street, Malmesbury, Wiltshire SN16 9AA 01666 823383 A previous landlord, Harry Jones, returns to this pub, walking around the upstairs room and corridors in his distinctive hat and with a "wide smile". He is blamed for "odd disturbances" in the bar or room 9, where he died and where heavy breathing has been heard. Vases of flowers would slide across tables onto the floor but the contents would not be dislodged or spill. Lights and beer taps would go on and off, and shot glasses were captured on CCTV flying across the room. The Weird Wiltshire website says that the other is a cavalier who had was delivering a message from Bristol to Oxford during the civil war and stopped here overnight. He hid the important message up the chimney, which was discovered in the 20th century. Link: Weird Wiltshire |
