Newport residents have reported late night phone calls traced back to the exchange - but the line had been disconnected after the Second World War. In addition, there are reports of a semi-transparent woman in medieval garb, a monk-like figure and a man in overalls have been sighted; in addition, doors opening and closing have been heard as well as footsteps. One workman heard a banging on the window and when he looked, saw a mob trying to get in, smashing against the glass with their clubs and fists before shimmering into nothingness.
