Church Lane

A woman's cries have been heard in this lane and have been said to follow witnesses for many hours; the sound is said to be due to a lady who hung herself from a tree in the lane. Also in the area of Ashingdon Hill, dying soldiers are said to appear in October - a spectral remnant of the Battle of Ashingdon which happened in that month in 1016.
