When there were plans to convert the Scotsbridge Mill into a restaurant in the late 1980s, the ghosts are said to have "moaned, groaned and made objects appear and disappear." There was also said to be a headless horseman in the grounds. Whether the spectres reappeared when the building did eventually become a restaurant is not known. In addition to the horseman, local legend talks of the ghost of a man who murdered a girl here, and in the 1970s, workers mentioned footsteps, keys going missing, coughing and the smell of perfume here. It is said that an exorcism eventually took place.
Update 2/8/2020: The restaurant informs me, "Unfortunately, we have not experienced any 'odd' phenomena in our restaurant."
